Why We Picked It
Why We Picked It
- "In the Academy, we teach that 'taking a deep breath' is often too abstract for an overwhelmed brain. We need concrete, visual cues. I chose this Breathing Buddha because it externalizes the process—it gives you a physical light to follow when your internal regulator is offline. It’s exactly the kind of sensory scaffold I recommend for building emotional regulation skills." -Amanda

I have the item on my desk at work. It works great.
This is a great tool. The buddha is so cute. It doesn't even have to be turned on; just looking at it helps you feel calm.
I like the concept, but the execution falls short. For a device meant to guide children's breathing, the color and breathing transitions are too jumpy. Instead of smooth shifts, it snaps from one color to the next, which encourages abrupt breathing and ended up distracting my 5-year-old rather than helping.
The tap controls are the least responsive of any silicone lamp I've used, which makes the device frustrating to operate. It has more functions than simple lighting like the meditation model and those additions are genuinely useful. But the inconsistent touch sensitivity undermines the whole experience and makes the extra features harder to access than they should be.
Compact and portable, I carry it to the office and use it when I need a reset.
